London Concerts

London is host to a great variety of indoor and outdoor concerts, with some of the worlds best musicians and artist performing.

London is host to many live events and concerts. Be it a rock concert at Wembley Arena, a classical performance at The Royal Albert Hall, a pop fest at Earl's Court Exhibition Center or an open air concert in Hyde Park - London has it all.

The Royal Albert Hall was conceived by Prince Albert and completed in 1871. Today it is a national treasure and a major tourist attraction for visitors to London. With notably some of the best acoustics in the world it is ideal for large concerts and performances. Royal Albert Hall is mostly used as a classical music venue, but some of the megastars in the pop and rock industry has in performed at Royal Albert Hall, including The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong.

Royal Albert Hall is probably best known for The Proms, short for promenade concerts, which is an eight week summer season of daily orchestral classical music concerts. Some of The Proms are held elsewhere, like at the Cadogan Hall. The 2009 season will run from 17th July to 12th September, and for the first time the total number of concerts reaches 100. Single-concert Promming tickets can be purchased, with a few exceptions, only on the day of the concert. Dedicated Proms concert goers can buy full or half season tickets instead for guarantied entry. Promming tickets cost the same for all concerts (£5 as of 2008). Tickets for the Last Night of the Proms are highly sought after. To book a ticket in advance you have to have bought tickets for at least five other proms in the season. Once the advance booking period ends, there is no requirement to have booked for additional concerts, but the Last Night concert is generally sold out by this time.

Hyde Park has been host to some of the greatest concerts ever held in London, and it is a great experience to see your favorite artist performing under the night-sky in this beautiful park. Earls Court Exhibition Center, Wembley Arena and the London Arena all offer indoor venues for massive concerts with state of the art acoustics and sound systems. These are all capable of holding more than 20,000 spectators.
